Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is a Philippine politician best known for being the 12th Vice President of the Philippines and the 14th President of the Philippines. She served as Vice President under President Joseph Estrada from 1998 to 2001 and as President from 2001 to 2010. She was the second woman in the Philippines to ever become President of the nation.
Family Life
She is the daughter of the ninth President of the Philippines Diosdado Macapagal and the ninth First Lady of the Philippines Evangelina Macaraeg Macapagal. In 1968, she married Jose Miguel Arroyo, with whom she had three children: Mikey, Evangelina and Diosdado.
Trivia
In 2011, she was arrested after being charged with electoral fraud. After being released on bail in 2012, she was again arrested that same year for misappropriating $8.8 million of state lottery funds.
