About Gottlob Frege
Gottlob Frege has been regarded as one of the most influential logicians in history. Mostly described as the “father of analytic philosophy”, the German mathematician and philosopher has contributed to fields such as the philosophy of mathematics and language.
His 1884 book titled “Foundations of Arithmetic” has been one of the most cited literatures in the study of logicism. Through his book “Begriffsschrift”, which was published in 1879, Frege outlined his contribution to the study of modern logic.
Family
His parents Auguste Wilhelmine Sophie Bialloblotzky and Carl Alexander Frege established a high school. In 1887, he became the husband of Margarete Katharina Sophia Anna Lieseberg.
Education
Before joining the University of Jena, he studied at the University of Göttingen.
Trivia
One of his most popular students was the German philosopher, Rudolf Carnap.
He influenced some well-known scholars like Michael Dummett.
