About Greg Dulli
The American-born musician is best known as the front man for Cincinnati's mysterious grunge rockers the Afghan Whigs. He has a particularly dark and forceful vocal presence. Dulli led the Whigs through numerous performances, as well as working as a producer and with side projects, including the Twilight Singers and the Gutter Twins. He released his official studio work “Random Desire” in early 2020.
Early Life
The musician began studying film at the University of Cincinnati in 1983 but stopped after a year, relocating to Los Angeles and working at Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard. Initially, he strived to become an actor. Dulli later returned to Cincinnati and founded the Black Republicans.
The Afghan Whigs and Other Career Works
Dulli's professional career began with the Afghan Whigs in the 1980s. His simmering baritone, which occasionally burst into a breathy yowl, directed albums centered on songs about desire, betrayal, addiction, and vengeance. The band released albums such as “Up in It” and “Congregation”.
He later joined The Twilight Singers and The Gutter Twins from 2000 to 2011 and released albums such as “Blackberry Belle”. Dulli went solo and released his debut work in 2020 with the "Random Desire" album. The album includes songs like “Pantomima”, “Marry Me”, “The Tide”, and “Black Moon”.
