About Gretchen Bleiler
American halfpipe snowboarder, Gretchen Bleiler is best known for being the first female rider to land the Crippler 540 trick and also winning the silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Snowboarding Career
Bleiler took up snowboarding when she was only 11 years old and quickly turned pro at 15. SHhcompletely took over the snowboarding circuit in 2003, winning the US Open, the Winter X Games halfpipe, overall Grand Prix title, World Superpipe Championship, and the overall title at the Vans Triple Crown tournament.
She won her first Olympic medal in 2006 and continued to compete in other snowboarding tournaments.
Awards
She won the 2004 Colorado Female Athlete of the Year Award.
She was voted the 2006 Female Snowboarder of the Year at the first Action Sports Award by FUEL TV.
Bleiler received her first ESPY Award nomination in 2006. She was also nominated for the Laureus “Female Action Sports Athlete” Award and the 2009 “Other Action Sports Athlete” at the Teen Choice Awards.
