About Griffin Dunne
Griffin Dunne started acting when he was still in high school. After he was sacked from the school for what was described as misconduct, he turned his full attention to acting and began his training in his newfound career. As a professional, he made his debut in the 1975 film entitled “The Other Side of the Mountain”.
Since then, the New York City-born actor has appeared in loads of television series and movies. He’s mostly admired for his appearance in 1981’s “An American Werewolf in London” where he brought life into the Jack Goodman character. His performance earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination.
His other popular roles include Paul Hackett in the 1985 film “After Hours”, and in the television series “Trust Me” as Tony Mink.
Other works
In the movie industry, Dunne has also gained fame for his roles behind the cameras. He has produced and directed other popular movies. He was one of the writers of the 1995 film “Duke of Groove” which he also directed. He also directed and produced the documentary film “Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold” which premiered in 2017.
Family
Dunne was raised in a family with a rich history in the movie industry. His dad Dominick Dunne was a movie producer and an investigative journalist. He’s one of the children of actress Ellen Beatriz Dunne. His sister Dominique Dunne was a top movie actress who was infamously murdered by his former lover John Thomas Sweeney.
His marriage to movie star Carey Lowell, which ended in 1995, produced a daughter called Hannah Dunne, who would go on to become a prominent model and actress. He has been married to Anna Bingemann since 2009.
Education
He initially studied at Fay School and continued at Fountain Valley school. After he was expelled from the latter, he attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre to train as an actor.
Achievements
He was shortlisted for Golden Globe Award’s “Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy” prize for his role in “After Hours”. He was also nominated for a laurel at the 1995 Academy Awards.
