About Guillaume Apollinaire
Guillaume Apollinaire was a celebrated poet, credited with developing the Cubism movement. Also considered as one of the pioneers of Surrealism, the French writer was known for his numerous collections including “Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d'Orphée” and “Alcools”.
Aside from poems, he also published many novels and plays. His 1917 play titled “The Breasts of Tiresias” was considered as one of his most popular works. Some of his famous fictions were titled “La Rome des Borgia” and “Le poète assassin”.
Family
His original name was Wilhelm Albert Włodzimierz Apolinary Kostrowicki and was raised by his mother Angelika Kostrowicka. It was suggested that Francesco Costantino Camillo Flugi d'Aspermont was the name of his dad.
