Family
He was raised by his parents Sara Camarena and Arturo González.
The engineer married María Antonieta Becerra Acosta
Education
Camarena studied at the National Polytechnic Institute and the School of Electrical Mechanical Engineering in Mexico.
Career
Camarena started experimenting with mechanical television around 1935. A few years later, he constructed a camera using an RCA iconoscope. Shortly after the invention, he began testing with color.
Around 1941, he manufactured a smaller camera using an RCA 1847 iconoscope which was first used for long-distance television transmissions in Mexico.
Almost a decade later, after discovering that black and white television could create the impression of color, he went ahead to patent his Psychological Color Television (PCT). The engineer also worked on his "Simplified Bi-Color System (SBS)", which he proved in the 1960s and also designed a two-color CRT to function with the system.
Legacy
The Mexican science research and technology group established The Guillermo González Camarena Foundation in 1995 in his honor.
Death
He was killed in a car accident in Puebla on April 18, 1965 at 48 years.
