Gus Edwards, born Gustav Schmelowsky was a legendary vaudevillian and songwriter from America. He was also a well-known music publisher who had his own theater company.
"Meet Me under the Wisteria", "In My Merry Oldsmobile", and "A Parisian Model" are some of his most famous works.

In 1970, the American was posthumously elected into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
He presented a weekly show on KFWB called "School Days of the Air" in the 1930s.
He starred in the 1939 musical film titled “The Star Maker”.
He was a pioneering member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
Before becoming famous, he worked at his family's cigar shop, singing lodge rooms, saloons, ferry boat lounges and between fights at sports clubs.
