Early life and Education
Gustave Moreau lived most of his childhood life in the streets of Paris. He developed a talent for painting at an early age and received his education at the Parisian school, Collège Rollin.
Career
Gustave left Paris for Italy after the loss of his mentor Theodore Chasseriau. He soothed his heart by reading copies of old master paintings. By 1860, Gustave had been equipped with every tool to start his career.
He produced an array of notable works, including the acclaimed "Oedipus and the Sphinx" in 1864 and "Jupiter and Semele" in 1894
