About Gyptian
He is a Jamaican reggae artist who goes by real name, Windel Edwards. He mostly dishes out roots reggae songs, which is a reggae subgenre. He grew up in a small community where he discovered his singing talent at the age of seven and started singing in church.
In 2004, the reggae singer released his debut album named, 'My Name is Gyptian'. Some of his hit songs include; 'Is There A Place', 'Beautiful Lady', and 'Mama, Don't Cry'.
Family Life
He was born to Pauline McCaulsky and a Rastafarian father. In June of 2006, his twin sons died after they were born prematurely.
Achievements
In 2004, he won the Start Search talent competition.
He was picked for the award category of 'Best New Entertainer' at the “International Reggae and World Music Awards” in 2006.
He won two African Entertainment Awards in 2017
In 2010, he won the 'Best Reggae Act' at the MOBO Awards.
Trivia
His parents were so much supportive of his talents that they introduced him to a producer at a very young age.
