About H. H. Holmes
H. H. Holmes was America’s first serial killer. He is estimated to have killed anywhere between 20 and 200 people.
History
H.H. Holmes graduated from medical school. While in medical school he became interested in corpses. He stole bodies from the morgue and collected life insurance on them after giving insurance companies false identities of the bodies. Holmes built the World’s Fair Hotel in Chicago. It was filled with trap doors, torture chambers, and vaults. Holmes built it for the sole purpose to trap and kill people. The basement was filled with dissection instruments and acid to dissolve the bodies. After a lengthy career of killing women, children, and men, he was caught and convicted of his heinous crimes. Holmes was hanged at the age of 34.
Personal
Holmes was married at least 3 times. He had murdered his own baby when his mistress told him she was expecting. Holmes’ hotel was torn down in 1938.
