About Hannah Höch
Hannah Höch gained lots of admirers for being one of the originators of the photomontage art. She was considered one of the top painters during the famous Weimar period. Höch, a recognized student of the Dada movement, used her paintings to advocate for gender equality and political discourse.
Throughout her career, the German painter published many works with some titled “The Beautiful Girl” and “Death Dance and Time of Suffering”.
Personal Life
Her original name was Anna Therese Johanne Höch and had a sibling named Marianne. Between 1938 and 1944, she was married to Kurt Matthies. Before their union, she was in a relationship with author Til Brugman.
Education
She began her training at Berlin’s College of Applied Arts and continued at the National Institute of the Museum of Arts and Crafts.
Trivia
In 2017, a Google Doodle was created to mark her 128th birthday.
She was trained by Harold Bergen, a glass designer.
