About Hans Frank
German lawyer and politician Hans Frank was one of the leading members of the short-lived German Workers' Party which would later make way for the Nazi Party. Due to his allegiance to the group, he was made a legal advisor to Adolf Hitler as well as the political party.
He became a Reichsminister in Hitler’s government in 1934. Five years later, during Germany's attack on Poland, he served as the Governor-General of the Polish territories occupied by the Germans. He was also involved in the Holocaust which led to the killing of many Jews.
Family
He followed in the footsteps of his father Karl who also worked as a lawyer. His mother was called Magdalena Buchmaier. In 1925, he married Brigitte Herbst and together they raised five children including German journalist Niklas Frank.
Education
He studied at Maximilians gymnasium before joining the University of Munich to read law and economics. He also attended the University of Kiel.
Recognition
Frank was decorated with many awards like the Golden Party Badge, and the NSDAP Long Service Award.
Death
The former government official was executed after he was found guilty of committing a number of war crimes.
Trivia
He published a memoir titled “Im Angesicht des Galgens” before he was executed.
He joined the Thule Völkisch group in 1919.
