He signed as an actor with Edison Studios and made several appearances in serials and short films. He later got into writing plays and directing. In a career that spanned over 3 decades, he directed such films as “The Great Lover,” “The Broadway Melody,” “Should Ladies Behave” and “Alias a Gentleman.” The filmmaker wrote the screenplays for “Burning the Candle” and “June Madness”. In his very illustrious career, he worked with such companies as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Warner Brothers.

He married American film actress Hazel Daly, with whom he had twin daughters.
Recognition
