Before Fame
He was born in 1925, in Rangoon, Burma, to a British Army officer. His mother died when he was only 3 and was raised in England by an aunt.
Career
He made his first stage appearance in 1956 in “The Family Reunion” at the Phoenix Theatre in London. The 1950s also saw him star in films such as “Floods of Fear”, “Nowhere to Go”, “In the Wake of a Stranger”, and “Cover Girl Killer”.
Other notable films that he appeared in include: “Carry On Screaming!” and “The Bargee”. In the latter, which was directed by Duncan Wood, Corbett starred alongside Hugh Griffith, Eric Sykes, and Julia Foster.
In addition to “Steptoe and Son”, the English actor also appeared in a number of TV drama series, including “The Adventures of Robin Hood”.
Cause of Death
He died of a heart attack in 1982 aged 57.

He had two failed marriages, first to the actress, Sheila Steafel and then to actress, Maureen Blott, with whom he had 2 children.
Awards
In 1976, he was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his work in show business.
