She was called the “Queen of Brazilian Television” and one of the wealthiest entertainers in Brazil. Hebe Camargo came on the scene in the 1940s and bowed out as an actress, television host and singer.
Early Life
Camargo started performing at a young age. She did however start singing professionally in the 1940s, when she formed a singing duo with her sister called “Rosalinda e Florisbela”. She was performing at nightclubs when she caught the attention of journalist Assis Chateaubriand who invited her for the live broadcasting of Brazilian television. That opportunity inspired her to pursue a career in television.
Career
Camargo started working as a television presenter of a series on TV Paulista in 1952 and soon started speaking on equality of women in the show “O Mundo é das Mulheres” (The World belongs to Women). Over the years this Brazilian beauty was on most of the top rated shows on Brazil television, hosting shows, interviewing important personalities and acting. She was best known for her television program “Hebe”.
Death
Camargo died on September 29, 2012, at the age of 81.
