About Helena Blavatsky
After coming into contact with some spiritual figures known as the "Masters of the Ancient Wisdom", Helena Blavatsky began spreading the teachings of the Theosophy religion which she founded in the 19th Century. In 1875, with support from William Quan Judge and Henry Steel Olcott, she created the Theosophical Society.
Her teachings were also said to have played a role in the spread of Buddhism and Hinduism in the United States. Her numerous literature such as “The Voice of the Silence” and “The Key to Theosophy” contained most of her teachings.
Family
Her original name was Yelena Petrovna von Hahn and was born to Pyotr Alexeyevich von Hahn and Princess Yelena Pavlovna Dolgorukaya.
Trivia
She was one of the earliest Americans to accept the Buddhism faith.
Founders of the Société Spirite group, Alexis and Emma Coulomb, described her as a fraud.
