About Henry Picard
Henry Picard’s style of golf play has influenced many contemporary golfers over the course of time. The accomplished golfer turned pro in 1925 and dominated the sport throughout the 1930s.
Early Years
Picard was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts and developed an interest in golf while caddying at the Plymouth Country Club. He was coached by Alex Morrison and became a budding golf player by the time he reached his 20s.
Professional Career
After turning pro, Picard became a notable golfer in the 1930s and 1940s. He won the Masters and PGA Championship in 1938 and 1939. He won 26 PGA Tour wins, winning his last in 1945.
Achievements
After retiring from professional golf, Picard was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 1977. After passing away in 1997, he was posthumously elected into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.
