Personal Life
Henryk Adam Aleksander Pius Sienkiewicz was his birth name. He was the offspring of Stefania Cieciszowska and Józef Sienkiewicz. He also had four sisters and a brother who passed away. Even though his parents tried to get him educated, he struggled with his lessons. As a teenager, he started working because the family was going through a financial crisis.
Career
It is believed that when he started working in his teen years, he also started writing even though he did not really make use of the works he did then. In 1872, he worked on “Humoreski z teki Woroszyłły”. Other works he did were “With Fire and Sword”, “On the Field of Glory”, “In Desert and Wilderness” and “The Teutonic Knights”.
Death
He died in 1916 after he suffered from ischemic heart disease. His funeral was attended by influential people including the representative of the Central Powers. It is also noted that, even Pope Benedict XV put together an address which was read at the funeral.
