About Hideki Tōjō
Hideki Tōjō served as Japan’s Prime Minister in 1941 until he was urged to resign three years later. During the Second World War, he also worked as the leader of the Japanese wartime group known as Imperial Rule Assistance Association.
His journey to prominence began in 1905 when he joined his country’s military. Some schools of thought believe that he was the brain behind the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. He also led his country to a number of battles including “Second Sino-Japanese War”.
Family
His dad, Hidenori Tojo, served in the Japanese army. He had two other brothers. He got married to Katsuko Ito and left behind seven children: four daughters and three sons.
Achievements
During his days in the military, he was decorated with lots of medals which include ‘Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun’ and ‘Order of the Sacred Treasure’.
Death
He was hanged in 1948 after he was found guilty by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.
