About Hiromi Uehara
The Japanese composer and pianist Hiromi Uehara is known for her spirited live shows with her musical blend of classical and progressive rock as well as a sprinkle of post-bop sounds.
Early Life and Education
The Japanese-born pianist developed her passion for music at an early age. By 14, Uehara was already performing with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. She later attended the Berklee College of Music. She joined “Telarc”, a Jazz Label, before graduating.
Career
Uehara made her debut in 2003 when she released an album titled "Another Mind". The album introduced her to a wider audience. The recognition she amassed urged her to release another album called "Brain" in 2004.
With her group, which comprised bassist Tony Grey and drummer Marin Valihora, the albums "Time Control" and "Beyond Standard" were released in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
Uehara released "Alive" in 2014 and "Spark" in 2016. The latter entered the US Billboard Jazz Albums Chart, reaching number one position in April 2016.
Personal Life
The pianist got married to Mihara Yasuhiro in 2007.
