About Hugh Beaumont
Hugh Beaumont was active as a Hollywood actor for three decades (1940-1972). His first screen role was in the film “Phantom Raiders”. His television debut followed a decade later through an appearance in an episode of the television series, “The Silver Theatre”.
He rose to fame as Ward Cleaver in the television sitcom, “Leave It to Beaver” which he starred in from 1957 to 1963. He wrote one episode and directed 23 episodes of the show. He is also remembered for his portrayal of detective Michael Shayne in five crime films in the 1940s.
Personal life
He was the son of a traveling salesman, Edward H. Beaumont and his wife, Ethel Adaline. He was married to Kathryn Adams for 33 years. They had three children and divorced in 1974. He was ordained as a minister of the Methodist Church.
