About Ian Wright
English retired professional footballer Ian Edward Wright played actively from 1985 to 2000. His decade and a half professional career saw him shine brightest with Crystal Palace and Arsenal for six and seven years respectively. In the last two years leading to his retirement, he had short stints with clubs such as Burnley, Celtic, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United. He was called to the B team of the English national football team in 1989 and made his debut in the actual team in 1991.
Family Life
He was born to Jamaican immigrants in England. He got married to Nancy Hallam in 2011. He also has eight children with five women. Footballers Shaun Wright-Philips and Bradley Philips are his children.
Honors
He was conferred with the Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2000. His football achievements include the Premier League “Player of the Month” for November 1996 and the “BBC Goal of the Season” for 1989/1990. He was named into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
