About İlhan Mansız
Mansiz rose to prominence at Istanbul's Beşiktaş J.K. before he was acquired by the Vissel Kobe football club in Japan. The Turkish former professional footballer, who is of German origin, played as a forward. He also doubled as a competing figure skater.
Early Life
The footballer was born to Birsen Mansız and İrfan Mansız. He found his talent in football at an early age and began his amateur career with SV Lenzfried in 1989. He played for FC Kempten from 1989 to 1992. He finally played for FC Augsburg in 1992 and began his professional career in 1994.
Professional Career
Mansiz made his professional debut with FC Köln from 1994 to 1995. The recognition he earned elevated him to play for other popular teams such as, SV Türk Gücü München, Samsunspor and Beşiktaş.
Prior to playing for MKE Ankaragücü, he was with Vissel Kobe and Hertha BSC. The forward hung up his boots in 2007. All in all, he made close to 200 club football appearances and scored over 70 goals.

Personal life
Mansiz married Nina Ritter in 2003. But they called things off a year later due to irreconcilable differences.
Achievements
He was part of the glorious Turkish side that finished third at the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Korea and Japan.
With the Istanbul-based club Beşiktaş, he won Süper Lig in the 2002/03 season. A season prior to that he was crowned the top goal scorer in the Süper Lig.
Trivia
Mansiz was involved in a car wreck in 2007 and suffered a career-threatening knee injury. The German-born was able to recover and make his way back to the game.
