About Ira Glass
Ira Glass started working in radio as a promo guy in the late 1970s for the Northwestern University campus radio.
He abandoned his plans for a career in medicine when he was made a production assistant at the headquarters of the National Public Radio (NPR). After 17 years with the NPR, he moved to Chicago, where he would be hired to create and host the popular and internationally-syndicated show “This American Life”, which he has become recognized best for.
Family Life
He was born to Shirley and Barry Glass. He was raised as the only boy and middle of three children. He dated Cartoonist Lynda Barry. From 2005 to 2017, he was married to writer Anaheed Alani.
Achievements
He is an inductee of the National Radio Hall of Fame. He has also received a George Polk Award and Pulitzer Prize for Audio Reporting.
