About Irving Fiske
American playwright Irving Fiske was famous for translating William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” into contemporary English. He started writing at a very young age and worked for H. L. Mencken's magazine known as American Mercury.
During the 1930s, he earned a living as an employee of the Federal Writer's Project. He was also a co-founder of the Quarry Hill Creative Center for writers and artists. His article titled "Bernard Shaw's Debt to William Blake" received lots of positive reviews.
Personal Life
He had three siblings: Miriam, Robert, and Milton. His three decade marriage to artist Barbara Fiske Calhoun ended in 1976. The couple was blessed with two children namely William Fiske and Isabella Fiske.
Education
He was an alumnus of Cornell University.
Trivia
In 1947, he sued Alfred Hitchcock and Cary Grant for plagiarizing his work.
