About Isadora Duncan
Isadora Duncan was an iconic American dancer who earned the nickname the "Mother of Modern Dance" for her pioneering role in inventing the Modern Dance. She died tragically in an automobile accident in France in 1927 when the scarf she had put around her neck got entangled in the rear wheel of the vehicle and instantly broke her neck.
Family Life
She was the youngest of the four children of Mary Isadora Gray and Joseph Duncan. She had her first child Deirdre with Gordon Craig in 1906. Her second child Patrick was born in 1910. The child's father was Paris Singer. Both children were born out of wedlock. In 1922, she married the famous Russian poet Sergei Esenin, whom she was 18 years older than. The marriage ended the following year.
Trivia
She was openly atheist.
Her children Deirdre and Patrick both drowned in 1913.
She revealed that after the deaths of her children, in her quest to have another child, she begged Italian sculptor Romano Romanelli to sleep with her.
