About Israel Dagg
Undoubtedly one of most-capped outside backs in New Zealand, he represented his country from 2010 to 2017. New Zealand rugby player Israel Dagg took his expertise and personality to the Sky Sport NZ rugby union commentary team in 2019 after twelve years of playing rugby.
Before Fame
This 6 foot 1 player’s interest in rugby peaked at Lindisfarne College, while representing Hawke's Bay. He continued to the International Rugby Academy (IRANZ) and was named one of the five promising players for 2006.
Career
He made his first appearance with the All Black in June, 2010, a test in which he was injured. Israel emerged from the bench to his first international try with the national team against the Springboks of South Africa. Named one of the top try scorers, he led the All Blacks to win the 2011 Rugby World Cup held on home turf.
Israel missed the 2015 Rugby World Cup due to injuries, and by 2016, he was once again the highest try-scorer of the year for the All Blacks.
Retirement
He hung his boots in 2019 after struggling with injuries.
Personal Life
Israel tied the knot with Daisy in 2015 and they had two children Arlo and Tilly by 2018.
Trivia
In 2006, he was the first secondary school player to be selected by the Hawke's Bay since 1994.
