About Ivan Illich
Austrian philosopher Ivan Illich gained global recognition for his opinion on the effect of modern society on human lives. He was of the view that the lives of people in industrialized communities were likely to be inferior to those living outside industrial areas. He supported his argument with the medical harm concept.
He later attracted the attention of many people with his numerous books such as “Deschooling Society” and “Tools for Conviviality”. He was also a lecturer and taught in schools like the University of Hagen and the University of Bremen.

His parents were Ellen Rose Regenstreif-Ortlieb and Gian Pietro Ilic.
Education
During his time at the University of Florence, he studied crystallography and histology. He later moved to the University of Salzburg, before joining Pontifical Gregorian University.
