About Ivan Turgenev
Fascinated by Mikhail Kheraskov’s poems, Ivan Turgenev developed a love for reading and writing at an early age. In 1852, he published his first work dubbed “A Sportsman's Sketches”, which was a collection of a number of short stories. The Russian writer was famously known for his 1862 novel titled “Fathers and Sons”.
Earning the reputation as one of the most influential authors in the 19th Century, Turgenev published a number of exciting books such as “Home of the Gentry” and “Mumu”.
Family
He was the son of Varvara Petrovna Lutovinova and Sergei Nikolaevich Turgenev who was a member of the Russian army. He had a child called Paulinette.
Education
Before moving to the University of Saint Petersburg, he was a student of the University of Moscow.
Trivia
He was also a playwright and wrote such plays as “A Provincial Lady” and “A Month in the Country”.
Turgenev worked with Russia’s Ministry of Interior in the 1840s.
