About Jack Bruce
Jack Bruce was a Scottish singer-songwriter, musician, bassist and composer. Regarded as one of the all-time most influential bassists, he rose to fame while performing with Cream, a British rock band as the bassist and co-lead vocalist from 1966 to 1968.
From 1962 to 1966, he performed in a variety of bands, notable including Blues Incorporated, Manfred Mann and Powerhouse. He went solo following the breakup of Cream in 1968, scoring a hit the following year with his debut album, “Songs for a Tailor”.
Family Life
His parents, Charlie Bruce and Betty Asher were musicians. He was married to songwriter Janet Godfrey from 1964 to 1981. They had two sons together.
He married Margrit Seyffer in 1982 and they had three children including British singer Aruba Red.
Achievements
As a member of Cream, he became an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.
Death
He died on October 25, 2014 from liver disease.
