Career Highlights
He carved a niche for himself by starring in biker films in the 1960s. He appeared with A-lister, Jack Nicholson in 1967’s, “Hells Angels on Wheels.” His prestige hit the roof when he directed his most notable film “Cleopatra Jones”, which featured Bernie Carey and Tamara Dobson. Other directorial credits of the filmmaker include “The Dion Brothers,” “Race with the Devil” and “Kiss my Grits.”
Private Life
After his divorce from Karen M. Forman, he married actress Valerie Starrett in 1958. The pair split up after a decade-long marriage.
He struggled with alcohol addiction which eventually caused his premature death at age 52.
Recognition
He received a Grand Prize nomination for “Raise with the Devil” at the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival in 1976.
