About Jack Valenti
Jack Joseph Valenti was known as one of the most prominent copyright lobbyists in the world. The Houston-born served as a political consultant and a special aid to U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson from 1963 – 1966.

He wed Mary Wiley in 1962 and he had three children.

He obtained a business administration degree from the University of Houston and an MBA from Harvard University.
Career Highlights
Valenti co-founded Weekley & Valenti, an advertising agency, in 1952 with Weldon Weekley. He met Lyndon B. Johnson, who was then the Senate Majority Leader, four years later and the firm ventured into political consulting with Houston representative Albert Thomas as a client. Weekley & Valenti worked in the Kennedy-Johnson presidential campaign.
He became the first special assistant to President Johnson after the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. He left his White House job in 1966 and became the president of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and developed the MPAA film rating system in 1968.
Notable Honors
In 1969, Valenti was honored with the Bronze Medallion, the highest civilian honor in New York City.
He was given the “Legend in Leadership Award” from the Chief Executive Leadership Institute of the Yale School of Management in December 2003.
Death
On April 26, 2007, after suffering complications from a stroke, he died at his residence in Washington at age 85.
Trivia
The Alfalfa Club 2004 nominated him for president of the United States.
