About Jack Wild
Jack Wild was a stage, film, and television veteran; he was also a singer and dancer, who began his career in the entertainment industry at an early age after being noticed by June Collins.
As a child actor, he was a standout performer in a number of theater and cinema projects. He rose to prominence after playing the Artful Dodger in the musical drama film "Oliver!" for which he won an Academy Award nomination for “Best Supporting Actor”, as well as BAFTA and Golden Globe accolades.
As a result of his success, he remained active in the industry, starring in a number of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, of which include "Flight of the Doves," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," and "The One in Line."
Wild was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2001 and had his larynx (voice box) and tongue surgically removed in 2004, rendering him speechless as a result of the procedure. In 2006, he succumbed to the illness.

He married Claire Harding from 2005 until 2006 and before then he was married to Gaynor Jones from 1976 to 1985.
He had a brother called Arthur Wild.
