About Jaco Pastorius
Between 1976 and 1981, Jaco Pastorius performed with the American jazz group named ‘Weather Report’. During this period, the American bassist helped the group to record a number of albums like “Black Market” and “Heavy Weather”.
However, Pastorius, who was known in outside music as John Francis Anthony Pastorius III, embarked on a solo project and produced his first eponymous album in 1976.

His nickname “Jaco” was coined out of the famous baseball umpire named Jocko Conlan.
His brother referred to him as "Mowgli", a character in the story, “The Jungle Book”.
