Jahangir was the fifth Mughal Emperor of India. He succeeded his father Emperor Akbar the Great in 1605 and reigned as Emperor from that time until he passed away in 1627. During his reign, he brought economic growth and political stability to the Mughal Empire. He was succeeded by his third son Shah Jahan.
Despite being a successful ruler, he was notorious for his strong addiction to women and alcohol.
In 1606, his eldest son Prince Khusrau organized a rebellion against him with the sole aim of dethroning him. After the rebellion failed and Prince Khusrau was captured, Jahangir blinded him before imprisoning him for his crimes.
