James Hiller Blount, professionally known as James Blunt is an English singer-songwriter, former army official and record producer best known for his global hit singles, “You're Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover”.
Family Life
His father, Colonel Charles Blount was a cavalry officer, pilot and part of the Army Air Corps, and his mother was Jane Ann Faran Blount. He was raised with two younger siblings known as Emily and Daisy.
He married Alexandrina Sofia Wellesley in 2014 and had two sons soon after.
Achievements
His 2004 debut album, “Back to Bedlam” gained worldwide success as it topped UK album charts, hit number 2 on US charts and sold over 11 million copies.
He fought in the Kosovo War in 1999 under NATO.
He has been honored with 2 Ivor Novello Awards, 2 MTV Video Music Awards and was named "British Male Solo Artist" at the Brit Awards in 2006.
The University of Bristol awarded him an Honorary Doctorate Degree for Music in 2016.
His 2007 album, “All the Lost Souls” earned a platinum certification in Germany and Australia and peaked at number one on the charts of at least 10 different countries.
He once set a Guinness World Record for the “Most Albums Sold in a Year” in the UK.
