About James D. Watson
James D. Watson is a pioneer molecular biologist, geneticist and zoologist famed internationally for discovering the molecular structure of DNA in 1953 along with Francis Crick. He has published so many books throughout his career, including his 1968 bestselling book The Double Helix.
He married Elizabeth Watson in 1968. He and Elizabeth have two sons: Rufus Robert Watson and Duncan James Watson.
In 1962, he won the prestigious Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine along with Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins. His other prestigious awards include the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research in 1960, the Copley Medal in 1993 and the Lomonosov Gold Medal in 1994. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.
