As the first football player from Akron to play in the NFL, James Richard Brown, a former professional football player and actor, made his NFL debut with the Cleveland Browns.
Early Years
At Dover High School in Ohio, he was the standout athlete. He played collegiate football for Akron and was honored as the 1983 senior year's Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in rushing with 1,568 yards.
Career
In 1984, he agreed to a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns. He was released twice by the Browns, became a member of the Ottawa Rough Riders and eventually went into acting.
Many people recognize him as Michael Hailey from the UPN drama "The Burning Zone." His additional television credits include, among others, "Bones," "Navy: NCIS," "CSI: Miami," “Lincoln Heights” and the HBO film "Criminal Intent."
