About Jan Brzechwa
He was among the renowned polish poets of the 19th Century. Some of his poems include “Tancowala igla z nitka” and “Akademia Pana Kleksa”.
Family and Education
He spent his formative years living in Kresy, Poland together with his family. He was of a Jewish descent and was born as Jan Wiktor Lesman.
He acquired his education at Jesuit College and graduated with a law degree from Warsaw University.
The Polish poet was involved in three marriages with his last marriage beginning in 1946 with Janina Magajewska.
As a Poet
Jan Brzechwa was a trained lawyer but he decided to try other fields, which gained him popularity. His poems rendered a great support to children literature and he spent most of his time writing children books. The stories he published into the children's books were based on his imaginative series of books “Pan Kleks”.
Beginning his career as a poet, he first published “Oblicza zmyslone” which is his first collection of poems in 1926. His other published poems included “Pan Drops i jego trupa”, “Pryzygody rycerza Szalawily”, “Wyssane Z palca” and “Od basni do basni”.
Trivia
He was related to the Polish poet and artist Boleslaw Lesmian.
