The activist was born and raised in Kansas City, USA. The champion activist holds a "Juris Doctor degree" and a bachelor's degree in Spanish and journalism from University Of Kansas' school Of Law."
Career Highlights
During the USA's 2000 presidential election, she served as the assistant campaign manager and deputy constituency director of the "2000 presidential campaign of Al Gore." In addition, she served as the media communication person for the campaign.
Between 1994 and 2000, the activist worked at the US White House as a deputy assistant under President Bill Clinton. In addition, she served as a senior US White House intermediary to Congress.
In 2001, she was appointed as a university relations vice chancellor for the University of Kansas.
On New Year's day 2005, she became the president and CEO of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), also known as "UnidosUS." Leading this Hispanic organization, she has brought several initiatives to solve many Latino communities' economic and social problems and has helped over 1 million qualified immigrants apply for US citizenship.
