About Jason Dasey
Prolific journalist Jason Dasey's career was propelled after an insider report from the New York Yacht Club in 1983 on the night Australia won the America's Cup for sailing helped him gain a job at Australia's Seven Network in Sydney.
Early Life
He was raised in Sydney, where he went to North Sydney Boys High School and served as a co-editor of the student newspaper. At the age of 15, the North Shore Times published one of his first newspaper articles.
Career
In 1980, he became a cadet journalist for The Sydney Morning Herald before getting a job at Seven Network. Before going to work for the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) in the UK, he was at SBC Australia. He became BBC's first Australian newsreader when he was promoted to senior sports anchor. In 1999, he was appointed sports anchor for CNN International's World Sport.
He departed CNN in November 2001 to work as the senior newscaster for Asian network ESPN Star Sports, which is based in Singapore. He returned to Asia and established a base in Hong Kong while doing freelance work for ESPN after undertaking anchoring duties at events like the 2008 French Open.
Trivia
For his stories that covered the Russian-Ukraine War for ABC News Australia, the Russian government added him to the list of journalists sanctioned in June 2022.
