Early Years & Career
Pennsylvania-born Livingston started learning the piano and later studied music composition while he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania. At college, he met Ray Evans and the two collectively worked together in 1937, composing songs for films, including “Buttons and Bows”, “Mona Lisa”, and “Tammy.”
Awards
Livingston is a three-time Academy Award winner for Best Original Song. He was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1977.
