About Jean Chrétien
Canadian politician Jean Chrétien served as his country’s 20th Prime Minister from 1993 to 2003. Before taking over that position, he served in a number of roles including the Minister for Energy, Mines and Resources, and the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister of Canada (18th Secretary of State for External Affairs.
As one of the most popular political leaders in the history of the country, he championed the passage of the Clarity Act. Chrétien also backed the multiculturalism and bilingualism initiative. His government opposed the Iraq War.

He was born to Marie and Wellie Chrétien. He has a brother called Michel Chrétien. He was married to Aline Chrétien until her death in 2020. His children are France Chrétien Desmarais, Michel Chrétien and Hubert Chrétien.
