About Jean Ratelle
Standing at 6 ft 1 and weighing 175 lb, the Canadian former ice hockey player recorded a twenty-one-year career playing for the New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins. His feats in the sport earned him a spot on the “100 Greatest NHL Players” in history list in 2017.
Career
From 1963 to 1975, Ratelle played regular seasons for the New York Rangers. He scored several important goals and earned a scoring record of 109 points, the highest for the Rangers until 2006.
He was sold to the Boston Bruins, along with ice hockey players Brad Park and Joe Zanussi, in November 1975. He played six seasons with the Boston Ruins and retired during the 1980-81 season.
After retiring, he became the assistant coach of the Bruins for four years and then a scout for sixteen years.
Honors
He is a two-time winner of the Lady Byng Trophy. In 1985, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
