About Jeremy Corbyn
Jeremy Corbyn is a recognized British politician who worked as the head of United Kingdom’s Labour Party between 2015 and 2020. In 1983, he was elected to represent the people of Islington North in the House of Commons. In 1979, he was made the organizer and agent of his party in Hornsey, prior to the general elections.
Corbyn was instrumental in the fight against the Apartheid system in South Africa and was made a National Executive member of the Anti-Apartheid Movement.
He served as a member of the steering committee of the Stop the War Coalition whose main aim was to oppose the Afghanistan war.
Family
His parents are called Naomi Loveday, and David Benjamin Corbyn. He grew up together with his brother, Piers Corbyn. In 2012, he married Laura Álvarez. He has three children as of April 2020.
Achievements
He was awarded with the Gandhi International Peace Award in 2013. During that same year, he received the Grassroot Diplomat Initiative prize.
Trivia
In 1984, he was arrested after partaking in a demonstration in South Africa.
