Early Life
The athlete attended and graduated from Lamar High School, where he trained extensively as a 110 meters hurdles due to his speed. He continued to chalk up success even after enrolling in Baylor University, where he perfected his craft in the 400 and 4×400 m relay competitions.
Career and Olympic Gold Medals
Jeremy Matthew won his first gold medal during the 400 m and 4 × 400 m relay events at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. He later competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, winning another gold medal in the 4×400 m relay. Wariner competed in various World Championship events and won gold medals in 2005, 2007, and 2009. The athlete also competed in the World Relay Championships in 2015 and Continental Cup in 2010, again winning gold medals in both events. He won the 2007 Best Male Track Athlete ESPY Award after retaining his title in the 400 m individual and relay events at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka.
Did you know?
In honor of his tremendous contributions to the sport, he was inducted into the Baylor Bears Hall of Fame in 2014. Two years later, he was inducted into the Texas Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame.
Personal Life
Jeremy Wariner married Sarah Nichols in 2011. As of 2021, the pair have three children together.
