Jessica Leigh Harp, often called Jessica Harp, is a highly gifted American songwriter, singer, and country musician. She is a former member of the famous country duo "The Wreckers" and achieved a successful solo career after the duo was disbanded.
Background & Early Life
The country artist was born and raised by her parents in Kansas City, Missouri. Harp began singing at age 3, and by age 13, she had written several songs and learned the guitar. In 2002, at age 20, she entered mainstream music, independently releasing her album, "Preface."
The Wreckers
In 2005, she partnered with her long-time friend Michelle Branch to form the country duo, "The Wreckers." They released their first record, "Stand Still, Look Pretty," in May 2006. It contained several hit singles, including "Leave the Pieces," which received a Grammy nomination and peaked at number one "The Billboard Hot Country Songs chart," and "Tennessee" and "My, Oh My," receiving Gold certification by the "RIAA." Unfortunately, in August 2007, they announced that they had disbanded.
Solo Career Highlights
In 2008, she began her solo career under Warner Bros. Records. Her first solo single under the label, "Boy Like Me," reached the Top 30 songs on Billboard's "Hot Country Songs Chart."
In 2010, she announced she would take an extended break from recording and focus on songwriting. However, her label digitally released her "A Woman Needs" album in March 2010.
