About Jetsun Pema
Jetsun Pema attracted lots of attention after the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, announced his intention to marry her in 2011. They tied the knot later that year which made Pema the official Queen of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
Aside from accompanying the King on a number of royal visits, Pema has received lots of praise for her advocacy works. She has also worked for many charity organizations including the Royal Society for Protection of Nature, Bhutan Kidney Foundation, Bhutan Red Cross Society, and the UNEP.
Personal Life
Her parents are Dhondup Gyaltshen and Aum Sonam Choki. She spent the majority of her childhood with her siblings named Dasho Thinley Norbu, Ashi Yeatso Lhamo, Serchen Doma, and Jigme Namgyel.
Her children with King Wangchuck are Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck and Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck.
Education
She started her formal education at Little Dragon School. Pema later studied at The Lawrence School, Sanawar before joining Regent's University London to read psychology, art history, and international relations.
Trivia
Growing up, she loved basketball and painting.
She also speaks the Hindi and English languages fluently.
