About Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck
He is a Bhutanese who rose to fame after becoming the leader of the kingdom of Bhutan. In 2006, he became the monarch of the kingdom after inheriting the throne from his father, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who ruled between 1972 and 2006, when he renounced his position.
Education
He studied at Phillips Academy and moved onto Cushin Academy both in the United States. Later, he was educated at Wheaton College then Magdalen College.
Spouse and children
He got engaged to Jetsun Pema in 2011 and about five months later, they held a large wedding. They gave birth to their first son in 2016. He is named Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck. They had their second child, a son named Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, in 2020.

When he became King, he stopped all laws against homosexuals. He went on to sign a friendship treaty with India. He also made it possible for the issues and grievances of his people to be sent to him directly. One thing he also did was to begin the Desuung Programme to give military training to volunteers to learn how to help whenever the need arises. In 2014, he freed about fifty prisoners who had been jailed for being in possession of tobacco in large quantities. This was also because their Tobacco Control Act had been amended.
